This block
contains Denver's quirky, yet somewhat charming "Bail Bonds Row"... a series
of old homes that have been converted into a number of bail bonds
businesses, given their proximity to the Denver Police Department
headquarters and the county courthouse. Now with the new Denver
Justice Center being built on the two blocks north of 14th Avenue, the
northern half of this block will be the home to a new 684-space parking
garage to serve the new complex. With only a surface parking lot there
now, the Bail Bonds Row will stay intact, but another surface parking lot in
Downtown will disappear. In the long-term, the southern half of this
block should be redeveloped to a density more appropriate for the location. |
